NMCWATCH is a support group for nurses and midwives who are going through Fitness to Practice investigations or employer disputes.

The group was set up nearly 3 years ago by its founder Cathryn Watters.

She  went through the process herself and felt more needed to be done to support the nurses and midwives experiencing it.

She also saw many issues about the process that could improve

and so set about raising awareness and challenging for fairer procedures.

We offer peer support in a non judgemental way, ensuring people are not alone whilst they face an extremely stressful time in their professional careers.

Mistakes happen but we believe that most professionals do not set out to cause harm and if this occurs can benefit from helping to learn what they can improve.

Sadly some professionals find themselves in front of the NMC following dispute in the workplace involving whistleblowing against poor practice. Retaliation referrals are quite high.

Some referrals also do not involve patient harm but are more about character or situational issues which is concerning considering the impact FtP can have.

We strongly believe by having support from those that have been through the process nurses and midwives have a better chance at moving forward positively.
